I was very young when I found out I was pregnant. I was scared, nervous, happy , excited, all rolled into one.
Then the day came for you to make your arrival. I was ready…or so I thought. On the way to the hospital, I whispered to your father to turn the car around, I didn’t want to do this. He chuckled at me and said we had to.
Hours, upon hours later, with a little bit of struggle, you were born. What seemed like forever, you made your first breath and my life was forever changed.
You were beautiful. My first love. There are no words for what I felt for you.
A few years later it was time for your first day of school. Again, I thought I was ready until we we arrived at school. I cried and cried and cried some more. I told your dad you were just too young and not ready for this and I wanted to take you home. He giggled yet again and told me it was me that wasn’t ready, not you. As he dragged me away from your class and we went home, I was devastated. When did this happen? When did you get so big? It was the longest day of my life!
And now? Now you are in High School and I am sitting here yet again wondering when you grew up?
Through my struggles of being a parent, our hiccups and losing my little boy and your struggles with finding out who you are, what you want to be and becoming a man, I am filled with joy and love that we have such a great relationship. That you can share your secrets, passions and dreams with me.
You are turning into such a great young man. More than I could have hoped or wished for. You are so gentle and kind and caring. Your smile and laughter brightens so many others day. I am told all the time what a respectful and great young man I have raised and let me tell you, hearing that NEVER gets old.
You are so talented in many things.
I want nothing but the best for you in life. The skys the limit. You deserve the best and don’t settle for anything less. And don’t you ever forget that!
You have such beautiful dreams that I know you will make happen for yourself. You are one of my greatest accomplishments.
I am so beyond proud of you and proud to be your mother.
Happy, happy birthday my dearest DJ. I love you xoxoxo
